• WOMEN OVER 55 ARE THE FASTEST GROWING HOMELESS POPULATION IN AUSTRALIA. There are more than 39,000 Queensland women over the age of 55 who are doing it tough - suffering financial hardship driven by rising living costs, lack of employment, limited or no superannuation and a lack of affordable housing options. 
• Women retire with lower average superannuation balance than men as a result of a range of social & economic factors including divorce; the gender wage gap; time taken out of the workforce to care for children or other family members; female-dominated industries being more likely to be low paid, casual and part-time; experiences of family violence + gender and age discrimination in the workforce. 
• Rising housing prices have increasingly placed pressure on people with low incomes, pensioners and people with little to no assets or superannuation. One of the assumptions on which Australia's retirement system is based is that you own your own home. For many, this is no longer realistic. Many of these women have never experience homelessness previously but the combination of job insecurity, low retirement saving and assets and living in a private rental. leaves them vulnerable to life shocks including separation and divorce, the loss of a job or sudden illness. 
• Our mission is to help put a roof over the heads of as many of these vulnerable women as possible and ensure these women have access to secure, safe and affordable housing options that enable them to age in place.
